They are so unique in appearance. Unlike any flower you’ve ever seen. Prehistoric in nature, they have flower crowns rich in pollen that are surrounded by colourful pointy bracts. They have woody stems that grow off of evergreen shrubs and can only be found on a specific floral belt across Southern Africa. That means, they don’t grow just anywhere. There are specific conditions required for proteas to thrive and bloom. Despite this being the case, the environment required might be considered as adverse for many other plants. They require hot, rocky and dry terrain.
When picked, proteas have a long life and even when dry, maintain their beautiful form as golden-brown ornaments. While other flowers, with their delicate petals and flimsy stems shrivel up in a matter of days, proteas allow you to enjoy them for a lifetime. I celebrated my wedding ceremony with a bouquet of stunning white proteas and what a day it was to remember.
There is something regal and majestic about proteas. You can find king and queen subtypes. One can’t help but be in awe when considering the detail God might have put into creating something so beautiful, in parts of the world that seem uninviting. It’s the very reason many people have not seen or heard about these exquisite flowers that look like precious stones surrounded by bracts for prongs, as if sentimental rings, decorating short trees.
I, like proteas, a diverse range of skills and abilities. It’s hard to focus on any one for a long period of time. I am also diverse in heritage giving me an exotic look. I can look like anyone from anywhere depending on the day you find me.
I enjoy doing a variety of things at a time. My background can be considered disadvantaged to some, and despite all adversity I can stand proud, beautiful and blessed. I consider myself royalty because of the favour I’ve seen through the most challenging of times. Having endured hot, rocky and dry seasons in my life, God has made something beautiful out of me and those I am surrounded by.
Also, I love Spathyphillum Wallisii (aka Peace Lily). This could very well have been the Peace Lilly website but after weeks at failing to design a nice logo with a Peace Lily, the protea was what I went with. Perhaps my next venture will be called Peace Lily and I’ll pay a graphic designer (or get one of my team) to create an exquisite logo for me. But for now,I hope you enjoy Protea Professional Services, what it started out as and all it now has to offer.
